【摘要】:Knowledgeofthelimitingoxygen(oxidant)concentrationisneededforsafeoperationofsomechemicalprocesses.Thisinformationmaybeneededinordertostartuporoperateareactorwhileavoidingthecreationofflammablegascompositionstherein,ortostoreorshipmaterialssafely.NFPA69providesguidanceforthepracticaluseofLOCdata,includingtheappropriatesafetymargintouse.ExamplesofLOCdataapplicationscanbefoundinreferences(2,3,4).Note28212;TheLOCvaluesreportedinreferences(5,6,and7),andrelieduponbyanumberofmodernsafetystandards(suchasNFPA69andNFPA86)wereobtainedmostlyina5-cmdiameterflammabilitytube.ThisdiametermaybetoosmalltomitigatetheflamequenchinginfluenceimpedingaccuratedeterminationoftheLOCofmostfuels.The4-LminimumvolumespecifiedinSection7wouldcorrespondtoadiameterofatleast20cm.Asaresult,someLOCvaluesdeterminedusingthisstandardareapproximately1.5vol.%lowerthanthepreviousvaluesmeasuredintheflammabilitytube,andaremoreappropriateforuseinfireandexplosionhazardassessmentstudies.MuchofthepreviousliteratureLOCdata(5,6,7)weremeasuredintheflammabilitytube.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationofthelimitingoxygen(oxidant)concentrationofmixturesofoxygen(oxidant)andinertgaseswithflammablegasesandvaporsataspecifiedinitialpressureandinitialtemperature.1.2Thesetestmethodsmayalsobeusedtodeterminethelimitingconcentrationofoxidizersotherthanoxygen.1.3Differentiationamongthedifferentcombustionregimes(suchasthehotflames,coolflamesandexothermicreactions)isbeyondthescopeofthesetestmethods.1.4Thesetestmethodsshouldbeusedtomeasureanddescribethepropertiesofmaterials,products,orassembliesinresponsetoheatandflameundercontrolledlaboratoryconditionsandshouldnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethefirehazardorfireriskofmaterials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.However,resultsofthistestmaybeusedaselementsofafireriskassessmentwhichtakesintoaccountallofthefactorswhicharepertinenttoanassessmentofthefirehazardofaparticularenduse.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
