【摘要】:PCSisoneoftheveryfewtechniquesthatareabletodealwiththemeasurementofparticlesizedistributioninthenano-sizeregion.ThisGuidehighlightsthislightscatteringtechnique,generallyapplicableintheparticlesizerangefromthesub-nmregionuntiltheonsetofsedimentationinthesample.ThePCStechniqueisusuallyappliedtoslurriesorsuspensionsofsolidmaterialinaliquidcarrier.Itisafirstprinciplesmethod(thatis,calibrationinthestandardunderstandingofthisword,isnotinvolved).Themeasurementishydrodynamicallybasedandthereforeprovidessizeinformationinthesuspendingmedium(typicallywater).ThusthehydrodynamicdiameterwillalmostcertainlydifferfromothersizediametersisolatedbyothertechniquesandusersofthePCStechniqueneedtobeawareofthedistinctionofthevariousdescriptorsofparticlediameterbeforemakingcomparisonsbetweentechniques.Notwithstandingtheprecedingsentence,thetechniqueiswidelyappliedinindustryandacademiaasbotharesearchanddevelopmenttoolandasaQCmethodforthecharacterizationofsubmicronsystems.1.1Thisguidedealswiththemeasurementofparticlesizedistributionofsuspendedparticles,whicharesolelyorpredominantlysub-100nm,usingthephotoncorrelation(PCS)technique.Itdoesnotprovideacompletemeasurementmethodologyforanyspecificnanomaterial,butprovidesageneraloverviewandguideastothemethodologythatshouldbefollowedforgoodpractice,alongwithpotentialpitfalls.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
